Ontario’s government plans to loosen its grip on adult-use cannabis distribution and enable private-sector participation.
According to an e mail obtained by the Monetary Post, “The OCS is moving ahead with expanding its privately-operated third-celebration centralized distribution network and will introduce flow-by means of capabilities to the network more than time to maximize selection for buyers.”
The newspaper mentioned the OCS will nevertheless be involved in wholesale, producing it a hybrid model.
The only other province to enable the private sector to distribute and wholesale cannabis is Saskatchewan.
New Brunswick not too long ago mentioned it is also preparing to move away from its government-run technique in favor of a private model.
